I got myself into a little bit of trouble today… well I can’t control the weather, and I blame it on just that.  We had a major Thunderstorm last night – didn’t scare me – the storm left lots of enjoyable mud puddles in the back yard and I frolicked throughout the mini ponds as much as I could – only to return to the house with muddy paws & “ugh – these dirty wood floors” (I don’t think they were ever finished with a high gloss anyway).  Boredom sets in when you can’t  play outside as much as one needs to.  So when a nice size ball of cotton twine landed on the floor, I did what any other dog would do – it was mine!  … I can say I am beginning to understand feline behavior now…

Cooter and CottonSo here I am enjoying the cotton… did Mom say Down?  I can’t hear her…

I needed to floss anyway...I needed a flossing anyway…

Did she just say “Drop it!”???

Too much fun…

funAnd then Mom finally finds her voice!!!  Yay!  I can’t believe it!  She gave it a good one – nice deep voice “Don’t bark at meeeeee!”

MINEDid I bark?  Yeah, I guess I did get a little possesive over this find… so I began to listen a little closer… I got up when she told me to…

Guess where I am right now?

OUTSIDE!

Yes!  I won again!

I just love those mud puddles!!!

I’m learning that to live in the present is to wait on patience. Let me see if I can portray this the way I understand this to be. Tonight the family went out for hours… meanwhile, Mama left the boiled chicken in the pot on the oven. I waited… waited… and waited, did I mention they were gone for hours? That is a long time. I was here, fully in the moment, sniffing the aroma of cooked chicken. Chicken, a love of mine. When I was sick, as a young pup, Mama would always make me boiled chicken. And everytime I ate it I would always get my strength back and begin to feel so much better. This might be why I absolutely love chicken and almost can’t handle myself with this delicious aroma.

So as I said, hours later they return. Each one saying how great it smells in the house. Dad actually thought we left the oven on, but no, they were all simply smelling the saturated room for which I’ve been laying, and waiting, PATIENTLY in all night long. Did I mention chicken?! Guess what now? They actually say sit, stay, wait… (the chicken is cut up) … sit, stay, wait… tousled into the bowl… w-aa–ii–ttt… OK go ahead…

I devour it.  mmmm….

I allowed them to wait on my patience…  hee, hee, I always get the goodies & they think they are teaching me something…  I tend to think I slow them down a bit…

OK, admit it – if you digest, you pass gas. My parents are just so excited right now!!! They somehow got me to shine on my politeness… I just ran into the living room, away from my family, and tooted the loudest toot! Yeah, it frightened me, but wow! the people loved it! They’re sitting there rejoicing over the fact that I just “tooted” in the next room! I guess I am now more dignified than ever! Yay – I’m a good dog!

I was a little embarrassed at first – thankfully I was reassured, once again, that passing gas is normal… I still don’t understand.  Mom says it was the baked fish and the garbage picking I did earlier… oops, guess I should stick to a bland diet and refrain from my urges to peek in that garbage, it always gets me into trouble…
